The Old Tehri that was once heavily inhabited today lies under the water in ruins. Visiting this place is an experience that is worth remembering.

Tehri serves the purpose of tourists and devotees to a great extent as it is one of the holiest places in the state. It is also a popular tourist spot for skiing and is famous for its marvellous architectural structures. Tehri Garhwal is a place which can be enjoyed a lot in one day. Wake up early morning to enjoy the solitude of the site following with a healthy breakfast. The first destination of the trip is the Tehri Dam, the most sought after attraction in the area. Enjoy the early morning sight of the dam along with the boating and fishing in the lake. From there head on to Surkanda Devi Temple which is an easy trek of 2 km. If you are up to visit some more temples, then Sem Mukhem temple and Gautam Rishi Temple are the options. Make sure you break for lunch in between and if possible carry food along.

The place holds many options to eat outside the hotel, although you may not find and fancy and luxury restaurant. The food served is mainly vegetarian and North India cuisine is quite obviously dominant. Street food and small dhabas serves food that is delicious and worth tasting.
