History of Mussoorie The name ?Mussoorie? is derived from the word ?Mansoor?, name of a shrub that is commonly found in the area. In 1803, Gurkhas under the influence of Umer Singh Thapa fortified the region and incorporated the boundary of Mussoorie in their territory. During the time, East India Company was also dominant on the provinces and thus instigated combat in 1814. Till 1819, they captured Saharanpur district and included it in their empire. During the same time, Dehradun was discovered by British Soldiers as a holiday spot for downtime. The place was kept under secrecy but not until the word of mouth spread among others and British officers came to know about it. Itinerary Day 1 -When you reach Mussoorie and check in to a hotel do not get cosy and sleep off. Get fresh and find your way to Lovely Omelet to get the taste of the amazing and famous cheese omelette.
