Baghmara Tourism Situated inMeghalaya, Baghmara is not only rich in flora and fauna, but it is enveloped by lakes, rivers, hills and every significant element of the nature. For the labyrinth lovers, there are theSiju caves, the third longest cave system in the Indian subcontinent consisting of innumerable labyrinths and chambers. The magnificent limestone rock formation inside the caves, termed as the 'Princess Di's Chamber' is particularly awe-inspiring. Like this wasn't enough, the Siju Bird Sanctuary offers to keep the bird enthusiasts hooked up with the rarest of species migrating here during the winters. One Day Itinerary Day 1:You can start your day early and visit the Baghmara Forest Reserve to witness the dense forest inhabited by Elephants, Birds and Langurs. You can also spot the insectivorous Pitcher Plant. Once done with flora and fauna, you can head to the third largest cave in India, The Siju Caves. Do remember to carry the necessary tools while visiting the cave such as a torch light, water proof shoes and some food stuff as there are no hotels or restaurants nearby. You can end your day by the bank of Simsang river, enjoying the peaceful sunset. Day 2:Give your day a relaxed start and head to the Siju Bird Sanctuary. This place is a paradise for birders. They can watch some of the most amazing birds on this planet. After that, you can just visit the local markets, buy some souvenirs, meet some natives and enjoy the tasty fish available in the local restaurants.

Restaurants and Local Food in Baghmara Pertaining to the conditions of being a small town, Baghmara certainly does not enjoy a host of chain restaurants or food joints. The only sources of food, if not good food are the roadside stalls or the messes of the tourist lodges present here. One can also try some delicacies in the houses of the locals, given the fact that they are very friendly and courteous. Oct-Janis the best time to visit Baghmara October-January is the best time to visit this place. Summers are warm, and winters aren't shivering cold. However, being next to Cherrapunjee, Baghmara is a no-no during the monsoons. The best time to visit this place would certainly be the winters, especially the month of December because this place witnesses a splendid three-day bonanza festival called Tyisam which hosts a plethora of events ranging from beach football to fancy dress competitions to drum festivals.  Weather in Baghmara Loading...
