Hub of Culture and Festivals
Kailashahar is the town situated in the state of Tripura and is near the Bangladesh border. This town is considered as the Nagar Panchayat of the Unakoti district of Tripura. Kailashahar is rich in its traditions and cultures as some festivals of the neighbouring states are celebrated here with great pomp and pleasure. Durga Puja and Kali Puja are the most celebrated festivals here.
This town was once the capital of Tripura and now is famous for tea estates.There are about 16 tea estates in Kailashahar. The tea leaves grown here are entirely organic. Trekking options are also present here. This place is also known for the bamboo work done here, as well as handloom products made here.
Itinerary
Day 1:Reach Kailashahar. Check in hotel and relax. Lateron you can head to see the Lakhi Narayan Bari which is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and has extreme importance among the devotees. Later on, you can go and see the Chouddo Devotar Mandir, where Goddess Tripuri who is considered is Mother of Tripura is worshipped. This temple has Lake Kalyansaga on its east. In the evening you should head to the local market and check out the bamboo as well as handloom stuff.
Day 2:Early morning you can go and see the beautiful and vast tea estates there, and you can see how organic tea leaves are being produced there. In the evening you can head to Unokotiswara Kal Bairava, which is a 30ft high rock sculpture of Lord Shiva's. All the carvings are done on the hill and are incredibly beautiful to look at.

The food that one can enjoy here includes Bengali, Indian and Chinese cuisines. Local cuisine that can be relished mainly includes rice, various preparations of fish and is simple in terms of style of cooking as well as the mild spices used.

Oct-Junis the best time to visit Kailashahar
October to April is the best time to visit. Every year a big fair popularly known as Ashokastami Mela is held in the month of April which is visited by thousands of pilgrims. Another smaller festival takes place in January.

Kailashahar in Summer (March - May)
Kailashahar has hot and humid summers which begin from March and continue till May. The month of April marks the beginning of the Ashokashtami Mela which is quite popular among the tourists.

This region of the country receives heavy rainfall during the months of July to September. Thus, one should not plan a trip during monsoons to Kailashahar.
Kailashahar in Winter (November - February)
Winters here are cold. The season starts to set in from November and continues till mid of February. The end of monsoon and the onset of the winter months is an incredible period where when should go to Kailshahar. It is during the month of October and November where the town's biggest festivals Durga Puja and Kaali Puja are celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. Also, the weather during December and January is simply amazing making the footfall of tourists high to explore the town during this period.
