History of Dhanushkodi Historically, it is considered to be the point from where Lord Ram began the construction of the Ram Sethu. Later, it became a lively, bustling town. It shares the only land border between India and Sri Lanka. After the severe cyclone that hit the coast on 22nd December 1964, the place was declared a ghost town. Houses, transportation, shops, everything was wiped out. There was a massive loss of life. Hardly anybody lives there now. The eerily beautiful ruins attract tourists throughout the year.
