Adventurer's Delight Aritar is just 4 hours drive from Gangtok, which is the busiest tourist town in Sikkim. Aritar is a right place if you want to enjoy adventure sports to keep your adrenaline rushing. The various adventure sports near Aritar are:Mountain Biking:The route of this biking sport is full of surprising twists and turns. Perfect time to go for this sports is during the month of March to May and September to mid-November. The mountain biking route is through Aritar to Gangtok. The tourists are free to ride the bikes however they want.Paragliding:If you want to experience how it feels to fly, then this sport is perfect for you. Paragliding can be done from a place called Baliman Dara and Bulbuley Dara, which is just a 3-hour drive from Aritar. In fact, there is a Paragliding festival which takes place in Gangtok's Khel Gaon during October and November months.River Rafting:To increase the fizz of adrenaline inside you, river rafting is a good sport to try. You can go to banks of river Rangit and Teesta river where rafting takes place. This is considered as on of the finest river stretches of rafting. Here the rafting companies have both beginner and advanced levels for the tourists. For rafting charges, you can get assistance from the state tourism department.Trekking:Sikkim being one of the popular stops for mountaineers is a hub for trekking, as many trekking routes are available. In Aritar, the most famous trek is Silk Route-Aritar-Gangtok. This trek is for 7-8 days and may cost you around INR 16,000 - 18,000.

Itinerary Day 1:Reach Aritar. You can start your trip by going to Aritar Gumpa Monastery which is one of the oldest in Sikkim. In the evening, you can go to the famous Lampokhari Lake.  Day 2:Start your day by going to Parbateshwar Shivalaya Mandir which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The footfall of this temple increases during the Hindu month of 'Savan'. Later on, you can go to Lungchok Valley, which is the starting points of many treks namely, Phushrey lake trek, Rachela, etc. It is advisable to take assistance from the mountaineering experts there as they know the routes quite well. Day 3:You should drive to Baliman Dara which takes around 3 hrs from Aritar, to do paragliding.It is advisable o get pre-bookings done. In the evening, you can go and see Nirmal Dham. This temple has two beautiful waterfalls nearby-Lovely and Changey waterfalls.

Mar-Mayis the best time to visit Aritar The summers in Aritar extend from March to May and are enjoyably cool and pleasant. This is the best time of the year to visit. The monsoons experience heavy rainfall which restricts outdoor activities. The winters extend from December to February and the temperatures drop to freezing point. It is not advisable to visit Aritar during this time. Weather in Aritar Loading... Aritar in Summer (March - June) Summers in Aritar start from March and ends around June. Since this town is located at a higher altitude, the weather is very pleasant during this season.The temperature remains between 10 to 20 degrees Celcius and thus this time is preferred by the tourists. Aritar in Monsoon (July - September) This town receives heavy rainfall during monsoons.The monsoon starts to set in from July and ends by September. Landslides are common during this season, thus not being ideal to be visited by the tourists. Aritar in Winter (November - February) Winters are extreme in Aritar. The season starts off from mid-November and continues until February. Snowfall can be seen on few days.
