Annavaram Tourism Located in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Annavaram is a small hamlet on the banks of river Pampa. It is famous for its shrine of Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy, a form of the Hindu deity- Lord Vishnu, and is flocked by tourists throughout the year. The land belongs to both Satyanarayana Swamy and the Goddess Ananta Lakshmi Satyavathi Devi.The devotees come here to perform the special ritual of Satyanarayana Vratam to please Lord Vishnu. The prayer is mostly performed before housewarming ceremonies and wedding functions. The temple situated on the top of the Ratnagiri hills is almost an entire kilometre away from its base. It can either be reached by the steps on the Ghat Road or trekked vis stone path. Well connected by rail and road, Annavaram is a spiritual site you should visit if you want to be at peace. This sacred pilgrim centre is thronged by lakhs of devotees every month, most of them who come to perform the special prayer (vrata), so as to please the lord they have come to worship. At a distance of 142 kilometers from the capital city of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, on the hill top of Ratnagiri is the temple village of Annavaram. The presiding deity of Annavaram is Veeravenkata Satyanarayana Swamy, a variation of the well known Hindu deity Vishnu, who, as the Puranas said, blessed the lord of the mountains, Meruvu and his consort Menaka with two sons following which the sons became sacred places for Lord Vishnu. Etymology Considered second to only Tirupati, the temple village of Annavaram rests on the belief that its name is derived from 'Anna', meaning whatever you desire and 'Varam', which means God sent. 'The deity will bestow you with whatever you desire' goes common tongue.

One Day Itinerary A day is more than enough for to visit the tiny town of Annavaram. You can trek to the hill-top, beginning early in the morning. You can also choose to take the steps via Ghat Road or take a cab upwards. After paying your homage in the temple, have a sumptuous lunch in the canteen facility available next to the temple complex while enjoying the panoramic scenic beauty of the surrounding green fields and villages. End your trip by taking a boat ride in the Pampa river.
