Rajahamundry Tourism Founded in the 19th century by Chalukya king Raja Raja Narendra after whom it was named Rajamahendri or Rajamahendravaram but now is known as Rajahamundry. It is the biggest city of East and West Godavari district and is the birth place of the 'Telugu' language. This city is also famously called the 'Cultural Capital' of Andhra Pradesh. One Day Itinerary Owing to many places to see in Rajahmundry, you can split your itinerary into two days. On the first day, you can start by visiting the temples most are located a few kilometres on the outskirts of Rajahmundry, and you can find many on the way around the city. Post lunch, you can visit the Sir Arthur Cotton Museum after which you can go to the Godavari Bund to see the sun setting behind the bridges. On the second day, you can spend the entire day at Goutami that where you can visit the temples, shop in the local markets and enjoy recreational activities at the water park and river bay resorts. There is a ferry that takes you along for a trip to the Godavari River. This is a good place to see the whole of Rajahmundry in a single location.

Restaurants and Local Food in Rajahamundry The local cuisine here is predominated by rich spices. Owing to it's history of Persian rulers and it's own traditions, the food found here is an efficient mix of different cultures.
