Etymology Kakinada or Co-canada is a young and relatively unheard city in Andhra Pradesh. A lot of stories go around the origins of this quirky name. The one which is believed to be the most accurate is that it was initially called Kakanadiwada, owing to the reign of Nandi rulers in the area. It was later shortened to Kakinada. During the British rule, it also came to be known as Co-canada due to trade and export of coconut and coconut products. Industrial Zone Nestled beautifully on the banks of the River Godavari, the district is bounded on the north by Vishakhapatnam and Orissa, Bay of Bengal on the east and Khamman district on the south.
