Sualkuchi is a small sleepy village that displays the culture and traditions of Assam in its best form. The weaving village is however, best known for its skills and craftsmanship for producing one of the best kinds of silk in the state and thus earning its self a nickname of 'Manchester of East'.

Dotted with temples, namghars and monasteries at every step, the village is a wholesome package for tourists. Silkwork is yet another feather in Sualkuchi's hat. Some very fascinating and intricate designs are developed on the naturally golden Muga silk in the karkhanas or workshops that can be found beside almost every house. Sualkuchi is a small village with excellent skills, rich culture and nature's beauty. Begin your trip early in the morning, admiring the beauty of the village. After a nice breakfast at the hotel, your first stop is Sidheswar Devalaya Temple where you will experience the serenity. Next spot on your list should be a beautiful monastery of Hatisatra. Break for lunch and enjoy the delicious delicacies of Assamese cuisine. Fist stop after lunch is Ganesh Bigrah Temple followed by a trip to picturesque Brahmaputra River. Make sure you take back home some souvenir from the village in the form of silk sarees and incredible handicrafts. Finally, end your day at the hotel with a warm dinner.

Sualkuchi experiences warm summers while the winters in the city are quite cool. Occasional rainfall during the winter season brings down the temperature by few degrees. Monsoon beginning from the month of June receives heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorm. Carry woollens while travelling in winters and make sure to avoid visiting the city during monsoon season. It is best to visit the town between the months of November and March.
