History This historical site was once referred to in Mahabharata, as 'Dharmkshetra'. The three historical battles of Panipat that changed the course of India were fought here - be it the first one, which announced the arrival of Mughals, or the second one, which saw the rise of Akbar, and the final one, which witnessed the decline of the once powerful Maratha, Panipat has seen it all. This is one of the rare archaeological sites which has so much to offer but is yet to be explored completely. The city of Panipat houses some of the rare witnesses of history, enshrined by time but forgotten by the masses. Among them, leading the front is the tomb of Saint Bu Ali Shah Qalandar of the Sufi Chishti order, who was once an influential Sufi saint during the times of the Delhi Sultanate. Also, ideal for visit is the Old Fort, which houses some of the rare moments of history, which stretch from the times of Babur to the time of Hemu, who could have restored the glory of the Vedic civilizations, had the Second Battle of Panipat not cut his life short.

Itinerary Day 1 -Reach Panipat by morning. After taking some rest, freshen up and go straight for the Panipat Museum, which houses glimpses of the historic events that occurred in Panipat. Since the visit might prove to be a bit taxing, you can freshen up by shopping at some famous markets in Panipat, for e.g. the Palika Bazar, which is a 14-minute drive from the Museum.Day 2 -The next day, you should start with a visit to the Purana Quila [Old Fort], which houses some of the rare moments of history, enshrined by time, from the medieval India. Although poorly maintained, the evidence of the glorious history of India is still available. Barely 300 m. away is the famous tomb of Sufi Saint Bu Ali Shah Qalandar, which is quite famous, yet largely unexplored by many. Another site worth a visit is the Kabuli Bagh Masjid, built by Mughal Emperor Babur in commemoration of his victory over Ibrahim Lodhi. By the time you have returned from Panipat, you will have learned a lot of history, that was left untold.

Oct-Maris the best time to visit Panipat Panipat has a unique charm of its own, making it an ideal site worth a visit in almost every season of the year. The best time for a visit to Panipat is in the winters, although monsoons are also worth a visit. The summers are quite hot, making it the least advisable time for a visit. Weather in Panipat Loading... Panipat in Summer (March - June) This is the least advisable season for a visit to Panipat. It becomes extremely hot in summers, with temperatures as high as 45?C. Travelers should generally avoid this season, for their personal safety. Panipat in Monsoon (July - October) The climate is pleasant in this season, making monsoon another good season to visit Panipat. Being an off season, this is ideal for those travelers who seek considerable discounts. The light to heavy rainfall though creates some sludge, which makes Panipat a not so great place for a visit in the monsoon season. Panipat in Winter (November - February) The winters, which begin from November onwards, is the ideal season for a visit to Panipat, owing to a pleasant climate.
