One of the most planned towns ofHaryana, Panchkula is a satellite town that forms the tricity with Chandigarh and Mohali. Ruled by the Chandels from 9th-12th Century, this hill-city derives its name from the five irrigation canals or 'kuls' which draw water from the uphill Ghagghar. Sector 5 in Panchkula is popular for its variety of entertainment and eating out options. It even has an open-air amphitheatre and the Terminals Ballistic Research Laboratory of the DRDO. Panchkula is also a place which is used as a halt before going to nearby hill stations in Himachal Pradesh.

The city of five canals
Located within the close proximity to the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Panchkula has been developed into one of the finest townships in India over the past 20 years. Panchkula is also known for its five ancient canals, which supplies the water to major part of Haryana state.

History of Panchkula
In the ancient times, the area was under the Kushan rule. Over time, it was ruled by the Guptas, the Chauhans, and the Mughals, before it came under the British Empire. But it got its name and individuality on May 15, 1995, when it was declared as the 17th district of the Haryana state.
Itinerary
Day 1-Check-in at the hotel at Chandigarh. Local sightseeing around the city, visit Rose Garden, Rock Garden, Dolls museum and Elante Mall.
Day 2-Leave for Panchkula after breakfast First visit the Chattbir zoo, which homes around 110 species of animals. Next, visit the Cactus garden, a fascinating place with a wide collection of Indian succulents. Then visit the Mansa Devi temple built in 1815 AD.Day 3-Visit the Pinjore Gardens, located on the outskirts of Panchkula, Pinjore Gardens are famous for its Mughal architecture. Then, visit the Morni Hills, a great place for bird watching and trekking.
