History of Macherla
Macherla is the capital of Palnadu. The town got its name from Mahadevi Cherla. The town has a history which can be traced back to over a thousand years. The war of Palnadu was a very famous battle which was fought between Macherla and Gurajala. This war took place from 1176 AD to 1182 AD. The town is also known for the Chennakesava Swami Temple which was constructed here during the rule of the Haihaya kings.
How to Reach Macherla
Macherla is located at a distance of 13 km from Nagarjunasagar and lies to the east side of it. The town is easily accessible by road and can be reached via cab or local transport from Nagarjunasagar.
