Khonsa is the headquarters ofTirapdistrict in Arunachal Pradesh and is located in the Tirap Valley surrounded by Himalayan ranges. Streams, deep gorges, dense forests and snow-clad hills are some of the features which describe the terrain in Khonsa.
At an average elevation of about 1,215 m from sea level, Khonsa is a beautiful little hill-station with natural beauty all around it. Bordering Myanmar in the east andAssamin the south, Khonsa is also an important military area in the North-East. Khonsa's beauty lies in most of the natural surroundings, however, one could also enjoy a visit to theKhonsa museumto have a glance at the traditional tribal artefacts. Kheti and Lajo Village, located nearby are some of the tribal villages which one should visit to get a glimpse of the lives and cultures of tribal people. One could also visit Namdapha National Park, located in Arunachal Pradesh (around 166 km from Khonsa) for a wildlife tour.
