About Kalpa A small mountain town located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, at a distance of 240 km from Shimla, Kalpa is a treat to the eyes. This pristine town is situated in the lap of the Kinnaur Kailash at an extremely high altitude of 3000 mt from the sea level. The place is cold all throughout the year, with stretched areas of snow to whatever meets the eye in the extreme winter months. Positioned close to the Satluj River Valley, the place lets the visitors experience the best of nature to whoever might come its way. Numerous waterfalls and hillslopes in the locality are bound to leave you spellbound while you make your way to this small town.

One Day Itinerary Kalpa is a getaway which has one of the most adventurous itineraries. Start your day early in the morning by a walk among the wilderness and raw nature of the area. One thing that should not be missed is the bewitching view of sunrise and sunset behind the Kinnaur Kailash. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, begin your excursion with a trek to Roghi Village (remember the way to Roghi Village is open only in summers) and then to suicide point. Next point of your trip should be Kamru Fort. Follow this with lunch and continue your journey to Basteri if shopping is on your list or else one can visit the ancient village of Kothi, known for its temple, fruit orchards and spellbinding views. With so much to see around, you may have to skip some places or plan your itinerary as per your priority. End the day with an excellent dinner at the hotel.

Restaurants and Local Food in Kalpa There are no special restaurants or eating joints found in Kalpa. There will be small dhabas where you can snack while travelling. The main places where you can have your meals, are basically the hotels or guesthouse you will be staying at.Beer or alcohol is usually not served at any of the accommodations in the village, so it won't be unusual if you don't find any wine and beer shop on the way.

Kalpa in Monsoon (July - September) The rains in the territory are torrential in nature, and their pattern and distribution are highly unpredictable. The area is prone to landslides during the monsoon season and disruption of the transportation system in the area is frequent, which can increase one's hassle to a large extent. Thus, it can be an unsafe destination to travel to during these months. Kalpa in Winter (October - February) The winter months in Kalpa experience extreme climatic condition and weather range, with the temperature often dropping below the freezing point.
