Land of Rising Sun Nicknamed so for the literal sunrise, witnessed first in India anywhere, Itanagar is the capital of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, currently in controversy over the Chinese claims of the state. Inhabited by a mixed number of tribes, Itanagar is relatively secluded from the rest of India. However, the ingrained cultural roots, coupled with a determination to do well for their motherland keeps Itanagar, in fact, the whole Arunachal Pradesh to be precise, united with India. Famous both spiritually and naturally, Itanagar is one of those relatively unexplored destinations that you should visit, and bring out the charms hidden from the eyes of the world, for everyone to see.  

Itinerary Day 1 -Reach Itanagar. preferably by noon, and take some rest. In the evening, you can take a stroll on the city side, and do some shopping.Day 2 -The next day should be earmarked for a visit to the Ita Fort. Thereon, you can proceed to Ganga Lake, or if you prefer, go to Namdhapa National Park, for some sightseeing.Day 3 -The final day can be reserved for some blessings from Gompa Buddhist Temple and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, which houses some of the rarest species of the birds.

Restaurants and Local Food in Itanagar The main elements of the food here are rice, fish, maize, local herbs, bamboo shoots, green leafy vegetables and meat. At the same time there is a distinct influence of Tibetan cuisine on the area's platter and Tibetan relishes must be tried here. Oct-Apris the best time to visit Itanagar October to April are the best months to visit Itanagar as the weather is very pleasant. Summers, especially June could be a little hot, still manageable. Monsoons are also pleasant. Among the major festivals celebrated here are Torgya in January, Losar in February/March and Choekhor in October. Weather in Itanagar Loading... Itanagar in Summer (April - June) This is the least advisable time for the travellers, who will find hot and unbearable summers in the region. However, if you're raring to go, and wish to avoid any sort of crowd, this season is the most welcome for you. You are also advised to carry some sunscreens along with yourself. Itanagar in Monsoon (July - September) This is not exactly an ideal time to visit this region, owing to the heavy rainfall, which might ruin some of your plans. Itanagar in Winter (October - March) This is an ideal season for a visit to Itanagar with pleasant climate and a lovely ambience waiting for your arrival. October onwards, the area turns lively and beautiful owing to the pleasant climate. Although the temperature drops low in December, the ambience is still tourist friendly.
