Things To Do at Harangi Dam
The tranquil environment offered by Harangi Dam is one to be cherished. Surrounded by lush green forests on all sides, the reservoir waters are a picnicker's paradise. The freedom to explore is complemented by the picturesque sight it offers. The almost 3000 feet long dam embankment is constructed over a tributary of the Kaveri river and although may not be the most impressive engineering creation you will witness, it is nonetheless an amazing piece of nature cum man-made getaway. There is a scenic garden at the entrance of the dam which is at its verdant best during monsoon seasons as the reservoir is filled and the grass is greener than ever. Known for its picnic spots, the backwaters overlooking grasslands are a fantastic place to unwind and rejuvenate.
Sri Chamundeshwari Temple:An age-old Hindu temple on the banks of Kaveri's tributary, the Harangi River.
Anekad Forest:A small but extensive area of reserve forest area.
Best time to visit Harangi Dam
Harangi Dam is at its most beautiful during the rainy season from July to September when the reservoir is at its optimum level. Green carpets of grasslands cover most of the land adjacent to the dam. Summer months from March to July are hot and would be uncomfortable times to explore the place. Winter months are pleasant and witness few spells of showers here and there.
