Best time to visit Yuksom The weather is pleasant all year long in Yuksam, so you can visit this town anytime you like. However, the best months to visit this place are the months of March, April, May and June. How to Reach Yuksom Air:The nearest airport is in Bagdogra, about 170km from Yuksam. From here, you will have to take a bus or taxi to Yuksam. Rail:The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) which is about 150km from Yuksam. From NJP, one can hire a taxi to Yuksam. Road:The road to Yuksam is poorly lit and it is not advisable to travel at night through there. So take a morning bus from the railway station or airport.

Getting Around Yuksom It is a very small town so it is best to get around on foot. Where to Stay A very comfortable government guest house with two dormitories with 6 beds is available here. Three private hostels are also present here. Hotel Yangri Gang and Hotel Tashi Gang are the two main hotels here. The Demazong Hotel is another good hotel in the middle of the village, in front of Gupta restaurant. Sightseeing in Yuksom It is a very beautiful place for sightseeing. The main tourist attractions in Yuksam are Tashi Tenka, Norbugang Park, Dubdi Gompa and Kathok Wodsallin Gompa. It is encircled by majestic mountain ranges some of which are covered with snow throughout the year. Activities in Yuksom Yuksam is the base camp for many treks. One can trek to Tashiding/Dzongri peak/Goecha La, starting from here. Shopping in Yuksom Yuksam does not have many shopping places but the nearby town of Geyzing is a great place for shopping especially if you want to buy woollens and beautiful carpets. The local handicrafts of the place are exquisite. City Mall, Namchi Shopping Centre, LADURAM GANGARAM,Mahabir Khadyan Kharid Bikari Kendra, etc. are some of the shopping centres in Geyzing. The Yuksom Experience The town is mostly inhabited mostly by Nepalese people and the main language spoken here is Nepali. Yuksom's Nightlife The place is not quite developed and does not have much of a nightlife. However, Geyzing has quite a nightlife with many clubs and bars which can go to. Haidar Para Sporting Club, Agragami Sangha, Sri Ram Krishna Byam Siksha Sangha, Jewel Athletic Club, etc. are a few of them. Yuksom's Cuisine You will mostly find vegetarian food here. Non-vegetarian food is available, but since it is a remote area, meat supplies are infrequent. The quality of food is not so great here but the beef rice and morning alu parathas is worth tasting. If you are lucky enough, you will get yak cheese momos. These are particularly fantastic after a long day's trek. Most of the restaurants also serve tongba (bamboo drink) which is a must try here. Best Restaurants Nearby Yak Restaurant (Mr Ugen), Norling, and Gupta restaurant at the main junction, which serve Indian and Italian food are a few of the restaurants in Yuksam. Itinerary Yuksam is best seen as a part of a trip to nearby areas such as Pelling, Geyzing or the Kanchenjunga National Park. Reach Yuksam and check into a hotel or guest house. Hire a guide and set out to see the places of tourist attraction such as Tashi Lenka, Norbygagn park, etc. After this, enjoy the local cuisine of the place at a nearby restaurant. Then take a trip to the Dubdi and Sangachoeling monasteries. After dinner, return to your hotel for the night and the next day set out to see the Khangchendzonga National Park. After a visit to the national park, go to Pelling or Geyzing or any of the nearby towns. Tips It is advisable to travel with a guide.
