Meaning and Significance of Soochipara Falls
Soochipara Waterfalls in Wayanad is a very famous attraction. Its name has been derived from two words- soochi meaning rock and para meaning needle. Since the rocks present here are in the form of a needle, the waterfall is also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls. The enrapturing waterfall has three tiers of water falling from 100-200 feet height. It is a visited spot for trekking as well as rock climbing by tourists.

The best time to plan a trip to this nature's wonder is during the monsoon season because the waterfall is dry during the summers and closed for tourists from March to June. The Soochipara Falls can be experienced to its fullest during the monsoon season and tourists can enjoy seeing the rich flora, fauna and the hills as well as valleys surrounding it.
How to Reach Soochipara Falls
You can reach the waterfalls by either hiring a cab which will drop you at the entry point of the waterfalls or take the public bus up to a point which lies near the waterfall. You can also drive all the way to the waterfall. However, because the roads are not well-maintained, no public transport is allowed till the entry point of the waterfalls. This is why you need to walk or trek for about 2 kilometres from there to reach the destination. There are about 50-70 stairs which need to be climbed to reach the waterfall. Trekking is easy and takes about 30 minutes one way.

Tips
1. Since the waterfall lies amongst the most eco-friendly spots, the tourists should not be carrying plastic bags or any such substance which can mess up the surroundings. On the entry point of the waterfall, guards will check if the tourists are carrying any plastic or not. In case somebody is carrying water bottles inside, they need to deposit INR 50 per bottle and collect the tag for it. While returning, the tag needs to be shown and the money will be refunded.2. The visitors are not allowed the intake of alcohol or any such substance during their trip to the waterfalls.3. Follow the rules and guidelines set by the guides there.4. The visitors will be provided with meals and transportation as well if the required personnel are informed before time and are paid extra for the services.
