Vagamon Tourism 1100 meters above sea, far way from the loud city culture, lush greenery and serenity to gift every visitor, Vagamon could be your quiet offbeat hill station in Kerala away from maddening tourist crowds. If you are a forest lover, the first place you should visit in Vagamon is the Vagamon Pine forest, which is the major tourist attraction of this place. A very popular spot for movie shootings, Vagamon forest is actually a man-made forest which was created during the British era. The forest overlooks the entire Vagamon valley and is a beautiful place where you can go for a long walk, or just sit under a pine tree and breathe in the fresh mountain air. The other major tourist attraction in Vagamon is the Marmala Waterfall, which is one of the top draws of the area. Located along the Erattupetta route, the Marmala Waterfall is an epitome of the serenity and tranquillity of Vagamon itself. Nestled amidst plentiful greenery, the waterfall, which falls inside a private estate, was an obscure, undiscovered spot till even a few years ago. Today, however, it is a major tourist spot frequented by visitors all year round. Thangalpara, which is essentially a place of pilgrimage, is also one of the best viewpoints of Vagamon, offering breathtaking views of the entire valley below, surrounded by mountains on all its sides. Thangalpara is essentially a huge rock at the edge of a precipice, and it has religious significance as it was once the resting place of Hasrath Sheikh Fariduddin Baba, a revered Sufi Saint. While the name might sound a little misleading, Barren Hills in Vagamon is one of the best places to visit, and depending on the season in which you go on a vacation, you can get to see the hills turn from bare to lush and back to bare again as the seasons keep cycling. Vagamon Lake is another crowd-puller, and while the lake is not exactly huge, it is big enough to offer rowing, boat What's Great? Picturesque Surroundings. Known for its green meadows and Pine forests. A Paragliding hotspot. What's not so Great? A little difficult to reach. Not many facilities for boarding. Not many options to eat. For Whom Vagamon is a great place for nature lovers and is also a great getaway in South India. It is perfect for a one day visit from the nearby places. Also ideal for people who love Paragliding.

Scotland of Asia Situated 1,100 meters above sea level, the lush green plains, blue hills and meandering rivers are a direct reflection of the ones in Scotland, which is why Vagamon is also called the 'Scotland of Asia'. For adventure buffs, there are activities such as rock climbing, trekking, mountaineering and paragliding.

One Day Itinerary If you're looking at a day's itinerary, you will first have to decide how you want to go about it. Would you like to cover many places in a haste or sit and enjoy nature in the pleasant weather of Vagamon. If planning a day, you can start from Kurisumala and cover Murughan mala, have the afternoon meal and leave for the meadows, there are less things to see in hills, it is mostly about relaxing amidst the beauty of nature.
