History of the temple
The history behind this temple is quite of a vague kind.It is said to be built at the instance of God himself. The story began when God was believed to have appeared through the body of a 5 months old boy, Kalpesh, who was said to be unable to speak. God appeared on the body of the boy in the form of a glimpse of kumkum in front of his parents, and then the trace disappeared. His parents were astonished, since this incidence seemed impossible. After this, when the idea of the temple began to appear substantial, God is said to inspire all of the people who chose to work for the temple, in one way or another. Constructed in 1972, the temple was later registered as a public trust in 1977 at Nadidad. Another trust was also established in the state of Illinois at Elkgrove village in U.S.A, in 1996, named as Suryanarayan Sevashram Trust Fund Corporation, both of which are non-profit organizations.

How to Reach Surya Mandir
The town Borsad is connected to the major cities of Gujarat by both Rail and Road. To reach Borsad from Vadodara, the nearest main city in Gujarat, State Transport buses are available round the clock. Trains running between Vadodara and Kathana are available from Vadodara twice a day, by which one can reach Borsad.
The Sun Temple is situated on the State Highway No. 6, which is a direct way to reach the temple by Road. The nearest Airport is in Vadodara which is about 40 kms from Borsad.The biggest city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad is around 90 kms away from Borsad, from where State Transport buses are also available regularly for Borsad.
