History of Peechi Dam Peechi Dam was designed by the first Prime Minister of the independent state of Kochi at that time, E Ikkanda Warrier. Before this dam began to be built, it faced a lot of opposition cutting across the river. However, since the engineers in Kerala were against the existence of the dam, Warrier brought in a chief engineer from Andhra Pradesh who was retired. The dam got completed in the year 1957. The project was a huge success and helped the public in numerous ways.

How to Reach Peechi Dam Peechi Dam is located at a distance of 23 km from Thrissur. The most convenient way of travelling is to hire a taxi from Thrissur. Alternatively, buses also run regularly from Thrissur to Peechi Dam.
