Very well connected to the major cities of Mumbai, Pune and Nasik, Beautiful green hills and a thriving village life close to the busy city of Mumbai.
What's not so Great?
The nearest airport is 130 kilometres away and the route passes through Mumbai, which is perennially crowded. No railway station in Suryamal. There are not many hotels here, so it is advisable to stay in Thane or Igatpuri.

Suryamal is a small village near Thane and is known for the Suryamal Peak which is a haven for trekkers and bikers especially in the monsoon and winter months. It is also an ideal weekend getaway from Mumbai and a quintessential Maharashtrian village.
One Day Itinerary
Suryamal is a small town, and there is not mush for tourists to do here apart from trekking, biking and hiking. If you plan a trip here, a day's stay in Suryamal followed by a visit to any of the largest cities nearby is the best way chalk out the itinerary.
If you are staying in Suryamal, leave early in the morning for a climb the Suryamal peak and enjoy the fog, the fresh dew drops and the chirping of morning birds. It takes less than two hours to climb and return from the hill. After a sumptuous breakfast of the local favourite Misal Pav, proceed to the Amala Wildlife Sanctuary located a short distance from Suryamal. There are buses and auto rickshaws available from anywhere within the town to ferry people to and from the sanctuary.

The local cuisine here is dominated by Maharashtrian food with a blend of South and North Indian cuisines. This place is known for it's spicy food of curries and fries.Misal - a spicy gravy of potatoes, peas and other sprouts, makes for a mouth-watering meal.Vada Pav is the on the go fast food famous here.

Since Suryamal is a hill station, the climate here is cooler than the surrounding area, and even during summers, it is pleasant in Suryamal. However, if you want to trek or go biking, winter and monsoon are the best time since the valleys and hills are lush green and you can experience the fog surrounding you.
