Goddess Kali is worshipped with great devotion here in several forms. Some of these forms are Bhadrakali, Bhavani, Durga, Chamunda, Himavati, Kamakshi, Rudrarani, Parvati, Uma and Tara. Devotees of Kali visit the temple in large numbers during Navratri and other days important for Durga Pooja. Kali is considered as a symbol of protective love and motherly instincts. She is considered immensely important in Tantric practices and is also considered the Goddess of doomsday and death. She is the source of feminine energy also called Shakti or strength. She is also associated with Fertility and Creativity and hence is of great religious importance for the Hindus. Goddess Durga, an avatar of Kali, is considered as an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.

Kalibari temple can be visited during the tourist season between October and May. Also, Navratri is celebrated in November every year for nine days. The best time to visit the temple is in the evening at 7:00 PM to partake in the evening aarti.
