A town full of charms
Situated on the banks of river Hoogli, about 50 km from Kolkatta, Raichak is a perfect getaway from the bustling city life of Kolkatta. Raichak has some of the most beautiful and serene views of the mighty river Ganges. The glistening river at the time of sunrise and sunset, rows of the country boat sailing down the river, is a sight which is so calming and tranquil.
The small and charming town of Raichak has a lot to offer. Every corner is full of surprises here. The magnificent ruins of Forts from the British and Dutch eras take you back in the history. The ruins, the calming water and the lanes of Raichak are where you would want to get lost in. Apart from the history, Raichak offers some of the most delicious Bengali cuisines.
One Day Itinerary
One of the best things about Raichak is that it gives you the luxury of a holiday in its true essence- without having to run all over the place to see everything. The Radisson Fort is the most beautiful and prime tourist attraction. The fort has been converted into a hotel, so even if you don't stay here because of the steep tariffs, you can always have your meals here and explore the place thoroughly.
The Diamond Harbour is the next most attractive place. Hire a cab in the morning, go to the site, enjoy the harbour, visit the Chingrihkali Fort, see the lighthouse, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram at your leisure pace and then drive back in the evening. The next day you can probably relax by river Hooghly, enjoy a boat ride or a jetty ride and leave on sunset.

There are many small food vendors in the market places for cheap, quick snacks, while the restaurants offer high end dining experiences. Oct-Maris the best time to visit Raichak
The five-month cap between October and March is the best time to go anywhere in the entire country and Raichak is no exception. The place experiences a pleasant winter. The nights tend to get chilly, especially between December and February. But even then, the beautiful weather and riverside town complement each other perfectly in winters.

Raichak in Summer (March-June)
Summer are extraordinary hot and humid in Raichak, so it's preferable not to visit this place during this time. The temperature goes up to 40 degrees Celcius making it difficult to enjoy sightseeing.
Raichak in Monsoon (July-August)
Monsoon starts from the end of June or beginning of July here. This place receives a significant amount of rainfall, and the weather is not too hot and not too cold either. If you don't mind the rain, this can be a good time to explore the beautiful town.

The winter starts setting in October and makes it an ideal time to visit this place. The temperature drops down during November and December to 10 degrees Celcius or even less at times.
