History of Patna Planetarium The idea of building a planetarium in the city of Patna was conceptualized by former chief Minister Shri Satyendra Narain Sinha. He laid the foundation stone of the place in the year 1989. The overall construction was administered by the Bihar Council of Science & Technology. After utilizing a total amount of INR 11 crore, the planetarium finally opened for public viewing after 4 years and was inaugurated by Shri Laloo Prasad Yadav on 21st March 1993. It has been dedicated to the memories of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and has now become one of the largest, oldest and most well-maintained planetariums in the country.

The best time to visit the place is during the winter and post-monsoon season as the summers can be very hot and humid around the region. How to Reach Patna Planetarium You can hire a private taxi or take any locally available transportation like autorickshaws, car or bus from anywhere in Patna to reach here. The planetarium is situated around 1.5 km away from Patna railway station.
