Air:The nearest airport is situated at Mumbai at a distance of about 50 km. Taxis are available at the airport and these are the easiest way to reach the city of Prabalgad.
Rail:Panvel is well connected to Navi Mumbai and Mumbai by road and rail. The transport system to the place is excellent. Buses, local trains and taxis are the main ways to reach Prabalgad from Panvel.

The fort is best seen with trips to nearby towns of Lonavala, Khandala or Matheran. Board a train from Panvel and reach Thakurwadi which is the base village for trekking. Trek to Prabal Machi Village. Reach Prabal Machi village and have breakfast there. After that, continue with the trek to Kalavantin Durg. Reach the top of Kalavantin Durg and enjoy the scenic view from there. After that, return to the base village and have lunch. Explore the village and the plateau.
While here, one might also want to visit similar but easier to reach forts at short distances such as Karnala Fort and Irshalgad.
Tips
Carry a water bottle with you during trekking and carry some snacks too. Wear proper trekking shoes. It is best to hire a guide while visiting the place.
