Flora and Fauna at Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary
Since Mount Abu is a hill station, it is very rich in the biodiversity comprising of xenomorphic sub-tropical thorn forests in the foothills of ever-green forests present across valleys and rivers. There are herbal medicinal plants too present in the vicinity. There are 81 species of trees, 89 species of shrubs, 17 species of tuberous plants and 28 species of climbers. Tourists can also spot a variety of orchids here. Around three species of wild roses along with sixteen species of feras and bryophytes and algae too can be located in the forest. Bamboo forests are present in abundance in the south-western part of the wildlife sanctuary.
The sanctuary is home to the rarest and the most endangered species of hyena and jackals. Various wild species disappearing from the face of the earth have made their abode here. There were pieces of evidence of a lion in the sanctuary as well which was last seen in 1970. Other animals here include jungle cat, small Indian civet, hyena, jackal, common langur, wild boar, common mongoose, Indian hare, hedgehog and Indian fox to name a few. The sanctuary provides a perfect environment for the sloth bear as well. More than 250 species of birds are found in the sanctuary for its beauty remains distinct from all the others.

Winter season is the best time to visit the sanctuary if exploration and trekking are what you would love to do. The months between October and March serve as the ideal time to visit the place and have fun since the weather is pleasant and pretty much enjoyable.
