History of Maheshwari Sarees
The most famous shopping item of Maheshwar that is its saris were introduced in Maheshwar some 250 years back by Rani Ahilyabai. These saris are now famous and well-known throughout the country for the unique way that they are woven in. The 'Pallay' is exclusively designed comprising of five stripes out of which three are coloured and the other two white in colour and alternate along the width. The sari also has a reversible border which is known as bugdi.
