History of Palaruvi Falls To escape the scorching heat of the sun, the Travancore kings built a palace at the falls in Kollam during the 17th century. Palaruvi River and Forest Conservation Society (Palaruvi Puzha/Vanam Samrakshana Samithi) is the government body that looks after this whole place.  The Healing Power of Palaruvi Falls The mesmerizing falls have managed to gather fame for their unbelievable healing powers. People from far-away distances visit the fall only to dip themselves in its medicinal waters. It observes a heavy footfall during the peak season (July-October). During these months the freshwater pool is overcrowded, and you have to wait for hours to jump into it. Moreover, some Ayurvedic Physicians refer these herbal waters to their patients for curing their illness. The water here reaches after flowing through the area where medicinal herbs are found, hence, giving the water its magical power to heal.Also, keeping in mind the privacy, separate change and bath facilities are provided for both the men and the women. Palaruvi falls Trek Trekking is always fun. You can reach the milky falls by trekking through different trails.The first trek route, the Palaruvi Trek, takes you on a 5 km long journey through caves, dense forests, gushing streams, and some minor waterfalls. The trekking is allowed between 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM. It usually takes 3 hours for you to make it to the top.The second trek, Kurishumala Trek, is quite challenging. Not many people know about this 8 km long route. The six-hour trek gets you to the majestic Palaruvi Falls, acquaints you with the unique habitat of rare and endemic Chenkurinji, and lastly lets you have the glimpses of neighbouring states from the border. This trek through Themela forest region is allowed between 7:00 AM-11:00 AM. How to Reach Palaruvi Waterfalls The best way to get to the Palaruvi Waterfalls is by hiring a car. An hour drive can cover the 25 km distance between Kutrallam and the falls. Furthermore, you can reach here from Kollam, Kerala as well. Situated 75 km away from Kollam, it takes 2.30 hours to arrive at the falls. The most frequent route chosen by the people is Kollam - Thirumangalam NH208.

Tips 1. Visit here during the monsoon season as during summers the water of the falls dries up. June-November is considered the best season.2.
