History of Birla Temple
The land on which the Birla Temple of Jaipur is built was given to the Birlas by the Maharaja of Jaipur in lieu of a token amount of one rupee. Deeming the land fit for the construction of a temple, the Birla family constructed the temple here in the year 1988 and it has been a revered shrine ever since.
Birla temple Architecture
Birla Temple of Jaipur is renowned for its fine carvings and delicate work. The three different approaches to the religion are depicted by the three colossal domes of the temple. Outside the main shrine, there are many stained glass windows portraying the scenes from Hindu mythology and are imprinted with lavish sculptures. Inside, a large marble panel rendering mythological events welcomes you.
As you enter the premises of the temple, you are confronted by the image of Lord Ganesha which is considered to be immensely auspicious. From there you are led to the main sanctum of the temple where the idols of Lakshmi and Narayan are enshrined. The remarkable images are sculpted out of a single piece of marble and are adorned with the most lavish ornaments and clothes.
Expansive gardens surround the main complex of the Birla Temple. A small museum displaying the household items used by the members of the Birla family are exhibited here and is open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There is no entry fee to visit the same.
Janamashtami in Birla Temple
One of the most festive occasions in the Birla Temple is perhaps the festival of Janmashtami when the temple is lit up with glittering lights and oil lamps. Embellished with fresh flowers and a decorated festoon, Lord Krishna is welcomed into the world amidst great festivities and chimes of holy prayers. Visitors throng the temple in great numbers to seek the blessings of the Lord.

1. Cameras and phones are not allowed inside the temple complex.2. Taking pictures and videos is strictly prohibited.3. Wandering around the verandah is also not allowed.4. For first time visitors, it is suggested to visit the temple in the evening as the sight it presents is breathtaking.5. Evening aarti at the temple is enchanting, so plan your visit accordingly.
