Igatpuri is a hill station and a city in the Western Ghats located in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, 130kms from Mumbai, on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway.

Unexplored hill station near Mumbai which makes it less crowded. It is a very serene and picturesque destination with natural abundance.

Religious Significance of Igatpuri
Igatpuri has its religious significance left to present, along with the natural beauty sprinkle. Set against the backdrop of the mountains of Durvar Utvad, Trimak and Harihar, Ghantadevi Temple is believed to be the protector of the ghats. You could also visit a very ancient Hemadpanti style temple (since 11 A.D.), Amruteshwar Temple. Igatpuri also houses one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of the world - the Trimbakeshwar Temple. Embodying the three deities of Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, in its three faces, it dots on the foothill of the Brahmagiri mountain, on which originates the Godavari River.
Hilly Rejuvenation in Igatpuri
Igatpuri is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway. It is also bestowed with a cultural and historical significance of its own. Dhammagiri, translating to 'hill of Dhamma', is one of the largest Vipassana centres in the country. This insight meditation centre offers courses in Vipassana and is the most visited destination in Igatpuri. For photographers and nature lovers, Igatpuri offers Bhatsa River Valley, Camel Valley, Konkankada valley and the Randha falls, decorated with rivers and waterfalls. For trekkers, Igatpuri houses Trngalwadi Fort, placed at an altitude of 3000ft. You can cherish a mesmerising view from the fort.
One Day Itinerary
Igatpuri is mostly a single day trip destination. Therefore, you can leave for Igatpuri early morning, and make your first stop at Bhatsa River Valley, at the basin of the Bhatsa River. It is situated just before entering Igatpuri from Mumbai. You can then visit Camel Valley located nearby. Both these valleys are adorned with landscaping views and waterfalls. Ghantadevi Temple can be your next stop which is set against the backdrop of the mountains of Durvar Utvad, Trimak and Harihar. Behind the temple, stands the Tringalwadi Fort. You can trek to the top of the fort and enjoy the view from here. The trek may usually take a lot of time of the day but if you are still left with some more, you can spend you evening looking at a mesmerising sight of the five waterfalls, which fall one below the other, as though stitched. They are located only a little further from Ghantadevi temple, across the railway line.
Restaurants and Local Food in Igatpuri
The local cuisine here is the dominated by Maharashtrian food with a blend of South and North Indian cuisines. From Idli-Dosa to Parathas and Tandooris, you can find them all here. Vada Pav is a specialty of this region and is a must have.Due to the influx of tourists and trekkers, there are many hotels and restaurants along the way to suit every budget.

Jul-Sepis the best time to visit Igatpuri
Monsoons are the best time to visit as the rains make the place alive with the flora and fauna at its best. However, post monsoon is also a pleasant time to visit. Thus, June- September are generally an ideal time to visit Igatpuri.

With temperature ranging from 23 to 37 degrees Celcius, summers are generally very hot and avoided by tourists.
Igatpuri in Monsoon (June - November)
Experienced during June to November, are characterised very heavy and frequent rainfall. However, it is pleasant and makes everything scenic. It is not a good time to visit the monuments, although, treks and sightseeing are ideal during Monsoon.
Igatpuri in Winter (December - February)
The month of December marks the start of winter season in Igatpuri which lasts till February. The temperature ranges between 15 to 29 degrees Celcius and is one of the best seasons to visit Igatpuri.
