Narayanappa Kaivara is a famous pilgrimage dedicated to Narayanappa (Kaivara Thathayya), who lived here during the last part of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. The city got its name from the famous bilingual poet. Narayanappa has written numerous prophecies about the forthcoming events Kaalagnana. He has written poems in praise of the Lord Amara Narayanaswamy, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, both in Kannada and Telugu languages, as well. Places to visit in Kaivara The Amaranarayana Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The beautiful architecture of the temple consists of four sculpted stone pillars with minutely sculpted motifs. It constitutes the Navrang Mandapa. King Vishnuvardhan of the Hoysala dynasty installed the idol here. Aranya Rama Temple is located close to the Amaranarayana temple and is dedicated to Lord Rama, where is resided with his wife, Sita Devi, and brother, Lakshmana. As per the legends, when the Pandavas were in exile, Bheema killed the Demon Bakasura here. To honor Bheema?s deed, the Bheemeswara Temple was built. Narayanappa Mutt is an ashram dedicated to the famous Telugu/Kannada composer, writer, and Saint Narayanappa, who was initially a bangle seller, as per legends. He then got his spiritual awakening and dedicated his life to sainthood, writing and composing several literary works. Yoganarasimha Swamy Temple is located on a small hill, Vaikunta. Here, Narayanappa meditated for over three years. The temple also consists of his statue and a prayer room which is huge and beautiful and boasts of the mesmerizing view of the hills and valleys.

How to Reach Kaivara One can use the KSRTC buses or private vehicles available from Majestic bus stand, Bangalore. One has to then get down at Kaivara cross and travel 3 km more via a bus or auto-rickshaw to reach the Kaivara town.
