It has a background of rich heritage, the hamlets in the town have monuments and monoliths that depict success in war, valorous hunting, personal distinctions and achievements. There are many paddy fields alongside the valley, and hence it is rightly called as the " Rice Bowl of Mizoram". It also serves as a base point for trekking.

Itinerary Day 1:Start your day early and visit the famous Rih Dil Lake. Permission from Deputy Commissioner's Office and a public bus is all you need to reach the lake which is just 22 km away. The shape of the lake resembles a heart. You can enjoy the beauty of the lake and its surroundings, and once you come back, you can end your day by visiting the local markets and buying the souvenirs. Day 2:Wake up by the charming landscape which is surrounding you, have breakfast and head to Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary. A trek in the sanctuary will make you witness a wide variety of animals and birds. The evening can be spent by meeting the local people in the market and having some local delicacies.

Restaurants and Local Food in Champhai Champhai's choices for eating joints is somewhat limited. however one can find some popular and typical items to relish here. The local cuisine in Mizoram is popular for its fish preparations,Bai,which is a preparation of pork with steamed vegetables,Chhangbanwhich is boiled rice dough as well asJadoh, Kikpu, Tung-tohand pickled bamboo shoots. One might not find any alcoholic beverages here since Mizoram is a dry state. However one can enjoy theZawlaidiwhich is a local grape wine and contains roughly 14% alcohol.
