Annual Feast at Edathua Church
Celebrated between 27th of April and 7th May every year, the Annual Feast is a grand ritual of the church. During the feast, the statue of St. George is bedizened in gold and jewels and is carried out in a procession before being brought back and placing it on the dais of the church. Popularly known ?Edathua Perunnal?, the feast commences with the hoisting of the Christian flag and ends with a magnificent feast of the 6th and 7th of May. Devotees from far and wide come to take part in the event. Glittering with tassels, wreaths and buntings, the entire atmosphere reverberates with festivities.
Best time to visit Edathua Church
The best time to visit the church is around late April and early May at the time of the annual feast, to see the church in all its vigour and vibrance and be a part of the celebrations.
How to Reach Edathua Church
Edathua is located around 20 kms away from Alappuzha and can be reached in auto- rickshaws or private cabs. Alternatively, you can travel in one of the state-run buses. You can also reach the church through the backwaters in boats.
