Waterfalls in Srikalahasti Srikalahasti has the Veyilingala Kona Waterfalls, which means the "Valley of Thousand Lingas". There are many Linga forms of the rocks around the region. The waterfall is said to have some medicinal values that can cure skin diseases. Along with that, the area surrounding the waterfall is stunning and attracts locals and tourists equally. There is another waterfall called Ubbalamadugu Falls, also known as Tada falls situated 37 km from Srikalahasti. You have to trek up to see the waterfall. The trek can be exhausting, but the view from the top is worth it. History The history of this holy town is intertwined with that of its most famous temple - the Srikalahasti temple. Originally built during the Pallava period, the temple was later improved by the Chola kings. Sri Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara kingdom, built the majestic gopuram, over 120 feet high, at the entrance to the temple in around the 16th century. According to legend, the temple town derived its name from - Sri meaning spider, Kala meaning serpent and hasti meaning elephant, all of whom worshipped Lord Shiva and attained moksha or nirvana here.
