Best time to visit Dzukou Valley and Japfu Peak
The best time to undertake the Dzukou valley and Japfu peak trek is from end of June till September. The valley is its most beautiful during these three months, with all its flowers in bloom, dotting the landscapes with countless hues. The valleys of Dzukou are usually very pleasant during the day time but can experience a temperature drop of more than ten degrees during the night, so make sure you pack woolens generously.
How to Reach Dzukou Valley and Japfu Peak
Air:The nearest air head is at Dimapur which is well connected by flights with Kolkata and Guwahati. Kohima is about 74 km from Dimapur and can be reached by hiring a taxi or catching a state bus for Kohima.
Rail:The nearest railhead is at Dimapur which is connected to other major cities of North-East and the country. From Dimapur, one can easily hire a cab or take a bus till Kohima.
Road:Kohima is connected to Dimapur by NH 39 which provides its connectivity to other parts of the country as well. From Kohima, you can either go to Zakhma village (20 km) or Vishwema Village (25 km) for trekking to Dzukou valley by a shared Tata Sumo.
Where to Stay
While on the Dzukou valley trek, you can stay overnight at the Dzukou Valley trekkers' hut which provides a decent place to sleep, serves warm food and drinking water. On the Japfu Peak trek, you can stay overnight at the Japfu Peak base camp which provides a nice sleepover option with cooked food and water. You can carry packed lunch and water from these camps for your trek further.

Start from Kohima for the Veshwema Village and follow it with the Dzukou Valley. After this head to the Japfu peak, after which you can start moving back to Veshwema Village and Kohima via Dzukou Valley.
