Teen Murti Bhavan was the original residence of the former Prime Minister of India- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. After his death in 1964, the then Vice President decided to convert his residence into his memorial and museum. Following the same, a museum was established in the eastern wing of the complex. Some of the rooms have been preserved in their original state like the drawing room, study and the bedroom; and are a delight to look at. The repository offers a glimpse into the private life and times of Pandit Nehru through pictures, photographs and audio tapes. Carved with inscriptions from his very famous ?Tryst with Destiny? speech and other excerpts, the museum highlights the achievements and victories of the heroic man. The galleries are an insight into the Indian Independence Movement and Nehru?s contributions and sacrifices for the same. Besides being a storehouse of knowledge and facts, the museum also serves as one of the top tourist spots in the city.

The Teen Murti Bhavan complex also houses a specialized library which can be made use of at a cost of a nominal fee charge. The library is a treasure trove of valuable newspapers and journals and research materials. The diverse collection includes 267 thousand printed books and over 200 thousand photographs from the freedom struggle movement. There is a special collection of books by Nehru called ?Nehruana? concerning his writings, thoughts and political beliefs. The gallery also boasts of 2,02,415 photographs from the Indian history which is largely used by newspapers, magazines and journals to feature in their works.
