History of Khan Market
Today renowned as one of the Delhi's most expensive and high-end market, this place was once originally allotted to the immigrants from the North-West Frontier Province as seed land after the partition of India. Established in 1951, the double storey U-shaped market had 154 shops. The first floor of the structure comprised of 74 flats for the shopkeepers.Though the flats are now turned into restaurants, the structure remains the same. The first traders who had set up shops in the market named the Khan Market in the honour of Khan Abdul Jabbar Khan for his seamless efforts in helping them to migrate the new country, India.
