The life of Tulsidas
In addition to being a writer, Tulsidas was also a yogi who practiced his discipline on a regular basis. It is believed that during the time of a plague epidemic in Varanasi, he trained his students on keeping the deadly disease at bay. He created the 40 verses of his famous Hanuman Chalisa during his student days, as an ode to the deity to free him from his fears.
